The Showcard Machine Company MA-52 Letterpress is a type of proofing press used for creating large signs and posters using letterpress techniques. These presses were popular in the mid-20th century for commercial and educational purposes but are now used by artists and printers for fine art, stationery, and other letterpress projects. They are known for their ability to handle large type and are set up with metal guides and/or magnets to hold the type in place for printing. The machine is not self-inking. Ink is dispersed using a brayer and ink plate.
I've had this letterpress studio setup in my basement since 2013. It includes almost everything needed to begin printing immediately.
